The Last Goodnight

*Trigger Warning: This contains body horror and dark themes; proceed with caution.*

A child’s hand trembles against the setting sun as the world goes dark around them. Echoing sirens blare into the night. Mere whistles instead of booms as flashes of light burst into flame before their very eyes. Reminding them of the freedom that was fed to them on a silver platter of lies by the adults whose grins twisted and sneered. Looking at them as if they were prey to be devoured rather than their own kin. And as the night turns to dawn instead of a sea of green from the fields all they see is red as blood soaks the earth beneath their feet. The rest of their limbs scattered on the rich mans plates and the wind.
